Weathervane

Jonathan Bonner
American 1947-2014

A gift from the Chazan family in loving memory of Helene and Dr. Joseph A. Chazan

Bonner was a sculptor trained in woodworking, furniture design, and metalsmithing. He began his artistic journey at the Philadelphia College of Art, and later studied woodworking and metalsmithing at the Rhode Island School of Design. Bonner tried a variety of art forms, but is best known for his large sundials and weathervanes crafted from stone, metal, or wood.

This kinetic sculpture is activated by wind and was created from granite (base) and copper. It was gifted to the Art Complex Museum by the family of Helene and Dr. Joseph A. Chazan in the fall of 2024.
