Pairings of contemporary paintings and original poetry. A collaborative event between the Duxbury Free Library, local poets, and the Art Complex Museum.

Paintings have been chosen from the “TAG” exhibit, which features the work of eight artists and opens at the Art Complex on April 2. Local poets from the Poetry Circle, which meets monthly at the library, will write original poetry to pair with the paintings. Participating poets are Shelia Lynch-Benttinen, Rose Hickey, David Kirk, Nanette Scherion, Elaine Sorrentino, and Susan Thanas.

In honor of National Poetry Month, “Painters and Poets” opens on Saturday, April 15 and features an afternoon of poetry-related programming and light refreshments. The event is free and open to the public.

1:00 p.m.: Museum opens. Visitors are welcome to arrive, view the exhibit, and take a seat.

1:30-2:15 p.m.: Author Sarah Giragosian will talk about her upcoming book, “Marbles on the Floor: How to Assemble a Book of Poems.” Giragosian teaches writing at the University of Albany, NY.

2:30-3:00 p.m.: Poet Anne Pluto will read from her latest works. Pluto is a professor at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.

3:00-4:00 p.m.: Members of the Poetry Circle will read their poems.

 

The “Painters and Poets” exhibit runs from April 15 through May 21, 2023.
