Boldly squared, subtly glazed, and ready for its close-up.
Today’s Collection Spotlight features this ceramic vase created by Phil Rogers, a Welsh potter, on view in the Founders Room. It was gifted to the museum by Pucker Gallery in memory of Jessie X Cousins.
Rogers was a defining figure in modern studio pottery, carrying forward the famed cross-cultural exchange between Bernard Leach and Hamada Shoji. His pottery is featured in over 50 museums globally—spanning from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London to the Museum of Contemporary Ceramics in Mashiko, Japan.
Stay tuned for more treasures from the collection.

@margetuckerquilts Marge Tucker is a Minnesota born international award-winning quilt artist and quilting instructor now based out of Norwell, MA and Phoenix, AZ.
Learning how to sew from her mother, she started first by making clothing.
The first quilt she made was for friends expecting their first child over thirty
years ago. At that time, she didn’t know that quilting would become her
passion and now her profession. She started with traditional pieced quilts
but is now focused on abstract improvisational design in her work.
