American artist Thomas Hart Benton was born on Apr American artist Thomas Hart Benton was born on April 15, 1889. He and his wife, Rita spent nearly every summer on the island of Martha’s Vineyard in southern Massachusetts, from 1920 until the artist’s death in 1975. This earned them the hard-won designation as “islanders.” The couple’s children, especially son, T. P. Benton, developed a lifelong interest sailing and even built the sloop shown in this lithograph, entitled "Repairing the Sloop." He sailed the sloop to Florida where he lived for a time and in 1973, brought it back to Martha's Vineyard for repairs. This print shows the younger Benton working to replace the sloop’s damaged stripping, the ladder nearby suggests his comprehensive repairs.

Fabergé Easter Eggs?!? Throughout history, the eg Fabergé Easter Eggs?!? Throughout history, the egg has been a powerful symbol of rebirth and new life, especially during the spring, when nature awakens from the long sleep of winter. Perhaps one of the most charming, early 1900 Easter traditions was the collecting of egg pendant necklaces. From her first birthday, a girl would be given a small egg pendant every year before Easter, to be placed on a small chain, a precursor of the present day charm bracelet. These egg-shaped charms made by Fabergé offer a playful nod to the legendary Imperial Fabergé eggs.
