Description
Friday/Saturday/Sunday
September 9, 10, and 11, 2022
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
This unique, 3-day workshop invites mid-level painters to define the direction of their work by going beyond technique to consider the conceptual side of art making. We will explore visual language, form and content, and what’s in your personal awareness toolbox. We invite you to find answers to the fundamental questions: “What is it I want to say?” and “How do I want to say it?”
Each day begins with a 1-hour slide presentation and discussion followed by a 15-minute guided meditation to digest the information and prepare to paint. You are then free to paint and explore concepts for the remainder of class time. Instructors will be available for guidance and each artist is invited to have a personal one-on-one talk about the direction of their work.
Materials will be provided. We believe that leaving your own supplies at home—and using those provided—will help you break out of your comfort zone and free you to explore other ideas and techniques.
There will be a 30-minute, brown-bag lunch break. (Participants should bring their own lunch.)
Instructors: Mary Jo Beswick and Sally Dean-Mello
Fee: $235.00, includes all materials
