Weekend of printmaking focused on exploring the technique of drypoint engraving. Practiced by the likes of Rembrandt and Camille Pissaro, drypoint is an etchant-free intaglio printmaking process in which a design is drawn on a printing plate with a sharp instrument. Once the plate is methodically inked and wiped, the incised design is transferred to paper using an intaglio printing press. Beginning with a special viewing of examples of drypoint prints from the museum’s permanent collection, participants will be introduced to the intaglio process and leave with multiple impressions of their own original handmade prints. All experience levels are welcome.
